This one is a love story. It is about picking up the pieces. Learning to know a lost love for a second time in a new light. Clean.
There was a script I was writing that this and a few of the songs from the last record were to accompany.
It was never fully fleshed out,, but the songs, characters, and themes became two Easy Anthems records.
lyrics
1970
Morning
I think I’m coming back
Yeah I cleaned up good
I’m getting how to act
I’ve got a fountain
And I’m bringing it to you
And you will drink from
The water that it spews
And you will laugh and I can sing again
And we can stare at the walls and make them bend
I drew a map of your skin in my head
I’m gunna find my way back to the end
Just to start again
IT’S RAINING OUT
YOUR PAINT IS RUNNING DOWN
CAN’T GET A LIGHT
SOME HOW I MISSED THIS TOWN
IT’S RAINING OUT
YOUR EYES ARE HOLDING ME
AND I STILL SMOKE
LIKE 1970
Day 2
I’m starting to unpack
You draw the water
I run my hand across your back
I’ve got a fountain
And I’m bringing it to you
And you can lay beneath
The water that it spews
You can learn to love me changed
I’m almost used to the way you’ve rearranged
I drew a map of your skin in my head
I’m gunna find my way back to the end
Just to start again
IT’S RAINING OUT
YOUR PAINT IS RUNNING DOWN
CAN’T GET A LIGHT
SOME HOW I MISSED THIS TOWN
IT’S RAINING OUT
YOUR EYES ARE HOLDING ME
AND I STILL SMOKE
LIKE 1970
Let’s lay our heads
I want our thoughts to dance in dream
On this wide bed
We’ll stretch a life out clean
