The fist track, and the first song written for this record. The debut Easy Anthems record was darker and more stripped down,,, a lot of sad songs with cello and such.
My favorite from the last record was BB Shooting. I wanted to write something in that vein, but that a full band could dig into. Easy Anthems became a band, not just a project.
The lyrics are about falling out of love with a concept. A broken machine. It is about needing to move on. And it is for all the sweet lazy day lovers.
lyrics
Sweet Lazy Day
Feels like I was all alone last night
But I was not
And what’s more revealing
Is you were here
Pointing at the paint pealing
Next time I wanna be alone I’ll just call you
But I do not
Still I get the feeling
I’m better off with a brush and a ceiling
OH SWEET LAZY DAY QUEEN
WAS IT ALL JUST A DREAM WITHIN A DREAM FEEDING COINS TO A BROKEN MACHINE?
I should be more clear
That’s what you always say
As if I was not
What I deal is too near me
It’s not real-estate
Or some unified theory
And speaking of beauty I hate symmetry
That was a joke
or more of a dig see
If you are gunna be lost
Better lost laughing with me
OH SWEET LAZY DAY QUEEN
WAS IT ALL JUST A DREAM WITHIN A DREAM
FEEDING COINS TO A BROKEN MACHINE?
Oh you’d paint the room blue
I know you don’t see it like I do
Oh you don’t have to stay
You are free to move on
What’s a promise these days?
What’s a promise these days?
We are all free to leave
‘Cause it’s a broken machine
It’s a broken machine
OH SWEET LAZY DAY QUEEN
WAS IT ALL JUST A DREAM WITHIN A DREAM FEEDING COINS TO A BROKEN MACHINE?
